Burghley House is England's greatest Elizabethan house constructed and mostly planned between 1555 and 1587 by William Cecil, Queen Elizabeth Lord High Treasurer. There are 35 large rooms on the ground and first floors in the central part of the House. The historic parkland was laid out by Capability Brown. It includes the orangery cafe, gift shop, gardens and spectacular walks around Capability Brown's historic parkland. You can enjoy a guided tour, take a dog for a walk in the park, swim with the children, watch the teddy bear's picnic in the surprise gardens, or enjoy lunch at the Orangery.
