Chester Castle is the first rock gateway to Chester built by William the Conqueror in the 12th century. The view over the medieval centre of the city must be one of the most impressive aspects of a timber-framed town in the UK and rivals the best in Europe. They arrange two tours a month leaving the town hall between the beginning of April and the end of October on the first Tuesday and third Friday of the month at 11:30 am. They also afford free entry.
